Kebnekaise

The pale straw sun
Hatches upon your crest
Glimmering glaciers,
Crowning crystals of faint azure
That beckon embrace.
Beautiful berg and treasured Polaroid of my eyes,
Tranquillity transcends as I traverse and ascend
To your peak;
A prince’s panorama,
A pauper’s parish,
To which you readily admit all those who seek.

I rest my tired frame
And your company lifts me above all else;
I’m a stone atop a cairn of joy
Forever adding to your magnitude.

In spite of your comfort
I never forget
Your volcanic ancestry,
Your foundation and strata
And its power.

Only with love and humility are we one
In this day-long hour.
