Sweden, April to July 2011

In the April of 2011, shortly after my 24th birthday, Sophie and I emigrated to Stockholm.
This wasn't a decision we took lightly. We gave up everything we had built together for the chance of fulfilling our dream of living in a new country and to experience all of the adventures that doing so would entail.
The timeframe is only a few months but these months were by no means a holiday. This was a period of our lives where we fought for our own existence. All we had was the present moment, with our past abandoned and our future unclear.
We spent three weeks in a Youth Hostel and then shared a flat with an art student. Along the way we saw Stockholm, København, Mariehamn, Karlstad, Nedre Fryken, Vaxholm, Sigtuna, Drottningholm, Luleå, Gammelstad, Göteborg, Tallinn and Helsinki. We made friends, went to church, queued endlessly in government buildings, bummed about the city, scouted for work, went to gigs, watched the football, perused the museums and, most memorably, made Djurgården our haven.
